The Lake Hayes House, crafted by Ben Hudson Architects, is a modern two-level residence that gracefully integrates with the rocky terrain above Lake Hayes in Queenstown, New Zealand. The dramatic site largely informed the design of this residence. Early explorations of a serpentine architecture threading through large, slumbering boulders and towering evergreen trees resulted in a design which cascades the site, negotiating the sectional character of the lot, leading to the water’s edge. The "House above the Lake" is situated on the northern slope of Lake Zurich. The sculptural building is enclosed by its rough surface facing the slope-side street, while it opens up towards the lake through its generous windows. Ruedi Walti Considering the topographical conditions and the positioning of surrounding buildings and trees, the private areas have been concentrated on the middle floor. This arrangement allows the attic and garden floors to be utilized as living spaces, with one offering an almost uninterrupted view of the lake, and the other providing direct access to the garden. GUEST HOUSEArchitecture and interior design project done for Vila Nura, Valea Doftanei, Romania. If we had to choose the best keywords to describe the "Nura" Guesthouse we could say "balance" and "subtlety". For this project, the balance was sought on as many levels as possible: between what is built and the surrounding nature, both in terms of volume and texture, between visible and what is hidden, so that the proposed architecture is subtly anchored in the atmosphere, without visually aggressing the landscape.
