House M

The project M, a residential building in the centre of Meran, is embedded in the quit area of Obermais. The concept of the design was it to play with transparent and solid surfaces what fallows fascinating insights and outlooks. The interior melts together with the outside space. The terrain flows through the building and finds his renewal in the pool- and meadow area. Because of a refined external design and the arrangement of the pool, lawn, garden and house the whole concept seems like a unity with seamless transition. The ground floor follows the slightly sloping ground like a staircase to get a large garden area. Because of engineering technology considerations the building is conceived as a compact volume with one underground and two... More

Lee House

Architecture: studio mk27 - marcio kogan + eduardo glycerio. Interiors: studio mk27 - diana radomysler. With the façade radically horizontal, the Lee House is organized in a single volume ground-floor site. All of the rooms therefore, establish a strong relationship with the external, opening out to the garden. The spatial continuity with the living room is larger: all of the windows are recessed creating an extension of the external space, with a large veranda. The living room then prolongs the pool deck and crosses to the other side of the lot. These solutions are fit for the climate, the interior of the State of São Paulo, in the Brazilian southeast, which has elevated temperatures almost every day of the year. Strategies of... More

New Forest, Low Energy House

PAD studio complete decade-long study of first low-energy new build house PAD studio has revisited their first private residential commission after a decade-long study to determine the long-term environmental impacts of low-energy design. The five bedroom family home is located in the sensitive New Forest National Park in southern England, in a highly protected Site of Specific Scientific Interest. PAD studio was originally commissioned by clients Jenny and Julian Gray to build a new environmentally conscious home on a large 18 acre plot, set against the fringes of an ancient woodland. Designed to nestle into the landscape, the timber clad home features a simple rectangular form overlooking a natural swimming pond, flanked by a self-conta... More

Villa P

The site – a relatively steep hill – offers a stunning view over Graz. This panorama also provided the main guiding principle for the design. One additional goal was to provide direct access to the garden. Due to the very steep slope, this goal actually worked contrary to the aim of maximizing the panoramic view. The upper level, which is oriented completely towards the fantastic view, contains all of the living space, while the lower level houses the doctor’s office and adjoining rooms. This layout provides a clear separation of living and working spaces, including separate entrances. The upper level features two spacious terraces – one facing south and west, which provides an extension of the living room and the children’s rooms... More

Villa Amanzi

Nestled in a cascading, west facing ravine with a dramatic slab of rock defining the northern edge and a stunning outlook over the azure blue of the Andaman Sea to the south, our commission; to do this demanding but ultimately spectacular site justice, was both daunting and exciting. The defining elements are the rock and the view. They dominate at every juncture. They resonate on first approach, through the migration from public to private space, in the living and in the family areas, in the gardens, in the bedrooms; and they continue to command respect down the tropical jungle steps that arrive at a secluded rock platform, flanked by the same seam that welcomed you 60m above. Constant reference to these elements instills a feeling... More

Nettleton 199

“The brief was to create a building that maximised the connection with the view and the sea, create a garden on the mountain side of the site and to minimise views over neighbouring buildings,” says Greg Truen, Project Partner. The site is positioned on the side of Lion’s Head and has fantastic views over the Atlantic Ocean to the west. The decision was to create a double volume space at the top of the site that could connect the garden court to the east, while also taking advantage of the views over the ocean to the west. The entrance hall is a dramatic, vertical space and provides a counterpoint to the living spaces. The volume of this large area is modulated by the floor which has two levels, and by the bedroom floor which floats i... More

Dakar Sow

The ground floor of the house, designed to facilitate seamless indoor and outdoor living and entertainment, is arranged in an L shape around the pool, the pool terrace and the garden. The formal Living and Dining spaces cantilever over the cliff and hang over the Atlantic Ocean enjoying panoramic sea views as well as views back to the house. The Kitchen made up of a so called ‘American’ or open kitchen and a separate traditional kitchen as well as the garage and staff facilities run along the east west axis and along the northern side of the boundary. From the Entrance one moves past the sculptural circular stair to the Entertainment Room and the double volume Family Lounge which connects up with a floating stair to the upper level Pyjama... More
