Taller Héctor Barroso designs orthogonal collection of homes on forested site in Mexico

Mexico City-based Taller Héctor Barroso has completed a collection of four houses in the lush lakeside mountain town of Valle de Bravo, central Mexico. Referred to as Los Helechos (or, 'the ferns') the 1,150 square meter project is located on a steep, forested site dense in greenery. The adjoining residences are staggered in plan and section in correspondence with the shape of the triangular plot and its varied topography. The architects organized the linear building to minimally impact its site by adapting to the terrain and reducing the displacement of earth. Casa Ederlezi winner of public vote for House of the Year (Urban)

Located in the metropolitan area of Monterrey, Mexico, Casa Ederlezi has been selected by public vote as Archello Awards 2023 House of the Year (Urban). Concéntrico's Kali Coffee selected by jury as Interior of the Year 2023

Archello Awards 2023 has revealed its winning projects. For each of the 27 categories, one project was awarded by jury vote, and one project was awarded by public vote. As the overall Interior of the Year award winner, the jury has selected Kali Coffee designed by Concéntrico for a shop in the studio's hometown of Nuevo León, northern Mexico.  Kali Coffee Roasters is a coffee production company which grows its beans in rural Chiapas, a mountainous Mexican state that borders Guatemala. Kati Kaan is an off-the grid, self-sustainable beach house located at the National Biosphere Reserve of Sian Kaan in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo at the east of the Yucatan Peninsula. As an aisled location, it has to save, recycle as much as possible of water and to generate and store power from both, solar and wind generators. A compelling thing about this project was the client´s invitation to work again with them in a proposal that will allow to consolidate the task teams -operating from different locations- into the same space that was going to be developed in three stages.
