L’arbre, les enfants et la prairie

The new backbone of the school, designed as a narrative, refocuses the project on its users, the meadow, and its adjacent small wood, evoking the gentle world of childhood. Agora Award 2014. elua® The extension and rehabilitation of the existing building primarily aim to highlight the strengths of the site: a beautiful meadow at the rear and a small wood along the edge, between the school and the cafeteria. The new wing is located in a position that faces the small wood rather than turning its back to it, thereby enclosing the meadow and transforming it into an alternative courtyard during the warmer seasons for both the school and the after-school program. Casas del mar Children Center

Fraternidad and Berta Martinez Foundations alongside with the local government promoted a center for child care in Rionegro Antioquia.  The project is located on a limited area with an important slope, surrounded by local roads and a creek. Through a series of displacements and subtractions the project generates free spaces and patios to which all of the buildings activities are turned to.  The resulting spaces are thus easily controlled while visual relating with the external gardens.  Additionally a communal house is developed independently in the school ground floor and relates directly with lower garden and the creek. Connext Headquarter

The design of the office building was developed from the Connext logo. The airspace with its bridges connects four square structures of different sizes in a cross shape. In the individual structures, the workplaces are separated by glass partitions with sliding glass doors. This floods the combination zone in the middle of the square surfaces with light. The flexibility of the building is evident not only in the different floor areas, but also in the design with cavity floors and easily movable partitions: The floor plans of the offices can be adapted as required. To the outside, the four building structures with their stone façades appear rather massive. The mullion-and-transom façade between the cubes is set back and allows li... More
