Design of smart, utilitarian storage and production hall by Aretz Dürr Architektur prizes simplicity
German architecture studio Aretz Dürr Architektur has completed Hall S // 46, a new storage and production hall for Schumann Project (part of the Schumann Group whose furniture workshop — Möbelwerkstätte — was established in 1890). This smart, utilitarian building’s design prizes simplicity and makes use of durable materials, including wood, polycarbonate, and trapezoidal sheet metal.

There are seven different types of plastic with a variety of applications. The categories were first defined in 1988 under the Resin Identification Coding System. They are: polyethylene terephthalate (PET), high-density polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride (PVC), low-density polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene, and “other” — for plastics that do not fit the previous six categories, the best known of which is polycarbonate. A thermoplastic substance, polycarbonate is strong, durable, and has a high heat resistance. This material is particularly tough and virtually unbreakable despite its impressive lightweight quality.

[Y/N] Studio complete the refurbishment of one of London’s most unique and community-focused public spaces
One of London’s most unique and community-focused public spaces, Bradbury Works in Gillett Square, Dalston, has undergone a dramatic refurbishment by [Y/N] Studio. The project includes the renovation of 600 m2 of existing affordable workspace, the replacement of ten mini retail units, and the addition of almost 500 m2 of extra workspace within a two-storey addition.
