Allambie Heights Knockdown Rebuild
This project is a recently completed knockdown rebuild project in Northern Beaches’ Allambie Heights. This transformation replaced a 1960s elevated red brick box house, which no longer suited its residents— an older child-free couple. The new design maximises the site's natural attributes, including its elevated ocean views, excellent airflow, and optimal northern aspect.

The house was built in the 1970s. It was sited on two sides on the border. Its facade pretended to be a neo-classical 19th-century facade. In a semi-detached development with a neighboring building maintained in a completely different character, it was an extremely mismatched pair.

VILNA School - a project to restore the educational institution "Kharkiv Gymnasium No. 47" in Kharkiv, Ukraine. Kharkiv Gymnasium No. 47 was hit by a missile from the Russian occupying forces on July 4, 2022. The architectural bureau IK-architects has developed a project for the rebuilding of the educational institution VILNA School (Vilna means Free from Ukrainian language) , which can become one of the symbols of the rethinking of the education system and approaches to the design of educational institutions. New trends and digitization of the educational process forces a thorough reformulation of the approach to education, to review the principles of formation of educational institutions, recreational spaces and spatial design.

Transformation lourde d’une villa années 1970
In the first phase of studies, several options were considered. Faced with the poor quality of the construction, symptomatic of the 1970’s, as well as a constraining construction system, the owners favored a variant of heavy transformation: the above ground part was demolished, leaving only the basement and the existing concrete invert. On these existing supports, a new monolithic brick construction proposes new volumes, more generous and better adapted to the owners’ demands.
