AGUA is a private residence conceived as a sequence of pure volumes, controlled perspectives and changing light conditions. The entrance is deliberately concealed from the street and reached through a long, narrow passage protected by a large masonry screen. The path gradually reveals the house and culminates in a large glazed entrance. Elegance, modernity and functionality shape the guiding axis that defined the remodeling of this main room with the aim of achieving a new sober and timeless space. Jorge Luis Anaya Molina High quality materials were used to create a cozy and refined atmosphere, which were combined with neutral colors to maintain the same language, incorporating a variation of warm and cold colors to give accents in both paint and wallpaper. Wooden furniture finished in natural oak veneer, with decorative touches such as large mirrors, glass shelves and the headboard with upholstery of excellent design and manufacture. Occupying the ground floor of a soft loft development, this project converted a commercial space into a ground floor penthouse. It was a start-from-scratch project, to take advantage of the high ceilings and natural light. The unit is predominantly south-facing, looking onto the walking path along the Lachine canal. It is a project which considers the boundaries of public and private, exploring how these boundaries can simultaneously be upheld and dissolved.
