Black Diamond House

Situated on an urban infill site, this house builds on Buffalo’s rich architectural heritage, with works by Frank Lloyd Wright and H.H. Richardson only steps away. But rather than looking only to the past, the house offers a model for twenty-first central urban life, with a soaring interior space organized around views, nature and daylight. At the same time, the exterior respects the massing and rhythm of the historic neighborhood in which it is situated. Caption So as to fit into the urban context, the design began with the exterior volume of the house that previously occupied this site and burned down. From this starting point, adjustments were made to accommodate programmatic priorities: one wall was angles back six degrees... More

Marina Residence

A successful and beautiful project sometimes has an equally compelling story behind its creation. Such is the case with Rico Way, a home designed and built out of a re-kindled friendship, a novel design intent, and complete mutual trust. This Marina residence is a true collaboration among friends; Victor Mezhvinsky of FORMA Construction and Lindsay Gerber Interiors.   FORMA worked closely with Lindsay to completely transform this Marina Residence. The client wanted color with a degree of "glamour", while at the same time being warm and inviting for a family of four. Venetian plaster, lacquer, and statement lighting pieces complete the space making it truly one of a kind. More

19th street

Sidell Pakravan Architects has renovated an apartment in San Francisco’s Potrero Hill by contrasting a set of distinct wood volumes against the dominant horizontal planes of existing low ceiling heights and making use of an unused roof to capture outdoor space within the city.    The volumes, clad in walnut, establish a warm visual language that continues from the main floor through to a new penthouse. One volume controls vertical movement through the space, while a second defines the main living area and breaks through the ceiling to create a large interior room on the roof. The reading of the two volumes registers as a material difference between the insertions and the surrounding perimeter. A deep built-in bookcase on o... More

West Berkeley Bungalow

A new two-story volume is an addition to this existing Berkeley bungalow. The new space, a fifteen-foot square footprint, adds a sunken family room on the ground floor and a new bedroom and bathroom above. Skinny windows on the upper level capture views of the hills beyond, while a large picture window on the ground level invites a vivid, framed view of the backyard. The volume, clad in a rain screen of marine-grade plywood panels, feels like an extension of the residence, yet also a distinct and separate part.  In poor repair after years of neglected dry rot, the existing bungalow was renovated with new stucco and windows. The existing trim was removed, creating a short, boxy counterpart to the new addition tower. Originally built in... More

Daga Residence

Presenting to you a modern artistic take by Bora Da on a master bedroom. The television unit incompasses the feature wall spirit with a delicate glass book shelve. The chair, the painting all bring to your attention the vibe of the inhabitants and their want for an arty, modern and a comfortable living space. More

Ridge Oak Residence

Prominent Austin architect, Howard R. Barr FAIA, designed this mid-century modern gem in the heart of Austin’s Highland Park neighborhood in the late 1940’s. It was a typical ranch style mid-century, with a central low hallway and bedrooms off either side. The living room was set at an angle at the back of the house, which opened to a view of Lake Austin and greater Hill Country. When repeat clients bought it from Barr’s son in 2016, they hired the firm to design a complete renovation, new addition, and Interiors.    The firm took care to respect Barr’s original design and street presence by maintaining the brick, wood siding, carport, and punched opening proportions at the front façade. Besides fo... More

The Base Saphanmai

Naturally, human and nature both have various conflict within themselves and towards each other. It may be viewed negatively, however, within the confrontation, there is beauty more than meets the eyes. Therefore, the word “irony” is a main part of the conceptual design for Base Saphanmai. It is a method to architecturally bring excitement beyond expectation, while still maintaining its overall aesthetic. The key aesthetic element in the project was inspired from the concept of “Feminism”. Once the gentleness is explored, there is more value than meets the eyes. Similar to the idea a tattooed lady in a dress, it is the contradiction that is attractive and brings out the urge to explore.   When designing th... More

Hartford Residence

With an owner’s vision for a refined retreat notable for fluid spaces and artful detail, this centrally located Austin residence makes the most of its steeply sloped, quiet, leafy site. Throughout the house, the flow of spaces is informed by light; rooms open one after another and draw residents forward to discover what’s next. Two deceptively simple single-story gabled structures are connected by a glass entry foyer through a formal entry court. The glass entry reveals an outdoor living oasis with a pool at the sunken rear yard while bridging public and private wings on the main level. The public wing provides a vaulted great room for kitchen, living and dining with a balcony that overlooks the pool below. A delicate open trea... More

Grand Deco Tower / Loop Line

Grand Deco Tower  “Loop Line”   “The concept for this apartment is a playful black line that loops around the entire space to create a connected experience for the kids and the parents.” – Kenny Kinugasa-Tsui, co-founder of Bean Buro   “The running black line creates skirtings, portals and edging details; including a miniature door frame for kids within an adult door.”  - Lorène Faure, co-founder of Bean Buro   We were tasked to design an apartment in Grand Deco Tower in Tai Hang, Hong Kong, for a family with two young children.   The space was designed to be flexible for the whole family’s various activities. Urban Serenity

Set along a rare twin-cove coastline with sweeping sea views, the property’s setting brings to mind beachfront locations on the American east coast, such as Amagansett on Long Island. The design focused on creating the intimate and relaxed vibe, while offering the luxury of a contemporary city residence. Materials and colors were carefully chosen to incorporate casual and subtle textures, with shapes and patterns that recall elements of nature.   More
