A winning entry from an international competition, the design redefines public housing, showing that high density living can be liveable. It initiates an innovative typology of public communal spaces metaphorically reclaimed from the air. Social, political and cultural issues are addressed with simplicity and clarity. RSP The challenge was to design housing at an unprecedented height and density that had to be beautiful and open, yet efficient. The revamp of H&M Singapore’s flagship store at Orchard Building brings sustainability to the forefront through 'The Veil'. A new tensile fabric façade made entirely from i-Mesh textile, the first of its kind in Southeast Asia. Conceptualised and designed by RSP, the design goes beyond a simple façade, to acting as a dynamic interface that constantly changes. The use of the sustainable woven fabric was inspired by cinema projector screens, sculptor duo Christo and Jeanne-Claude's projects of wrapping public monuments in a large amount of fabric and even white lace food nets used for dining tables. ION Orchard & The Orchard Residences is a 56-storey residential and commercial development comprising a 4-storey basement, 4-storey retail space, a 4-storey car park with a residential tower block (175 Units), 2-storey observation deck and ancillary facilities. A 3,000-metre square public event space and a public art exhibition space on the 56th floor of the residential tower was also designed for public use. RSP RSP Boasting one of the largest sheltered public spaces and a media wall, ION Orchard is the "centre of gravity" in Singapore's shopping belt. On a long and narrow plot fronting a road junction, a semi-detached house of three and a half storey stands as a slim, monolithic mass. With minimal external views, the design aims to provide the avid gardening homeowners and their newlywed children with a climate-conscious and a unique inward-looking home. In crafting a multi-generational home, the design strives to avoid the formation of wholly segregated private zones. DESCRIPTION  Atrium house was a response to our Client’s brief for a house of modern simplicity and good space. The architectural design of the house was based on the desire to celebrate spaciousness and create meaningful spatial relationships. The central atrium became the anchor for the house, connecting it with all the living spaces from the first to the highest level. The idea of a punctuation echoed to the façade with a patterned perforation that allowed greenery to climb and peek into the interiors of the house.    CONCEPT The first level presented the living room as a spacious space. With a desire to grow their team, the motive was to create a commercial environment for their own usage.
