Stoic Beauty in Every Detail: Studio Metanoia Crafts an Enigmatic Brutalist Home
Stepping into Apartment 29 designed by Studio Metanoia is like entering a realm where architecture and art converge. The reimagined late-90s apartment envelops you in a profound sense of presence, a space that speaks with quiet power through its Brutalist form and materiality. Concrete, stone, steel, and aluminium interplay seamlessly, creating a monolithic masterpiece that is both raw and refined.

The 1,367 sqft residence is drenched in deep blacks and moody grays, colors that absorb light and invite introspection. Walls of troweled cement and poured concrete unapologetically reveal their imperfections, their textures telling a story of authenticity and strength. In the dining area, a bespoke stainless steel table, designed in collaboration with Baremetal, stands as a commanding centerpiece—its polished surface reflecting the muted hues of its surroundings.

The open-plan layout draws you into its flow, an expansive communal area where each corner feels intentional. Curtains, soft yet assertive, partition spaces with elegance, allowing moments of privacy within the openness. Ambient lighting takes center stage, with the Mazha Lighting System 5.0 by Mario Tsai casting a poetic glow that enhances the moody sophistication of the home.

In the master suite, the removal of walls has transformed the space into a sanctuary of calm and purpose. A work-and-leisure zone unfolds with a sculptural fluidity, while a walk-in wardrobe and en-suite bathroom complete the retreat. Every detail reflects Studio Metanoia’s dedication to crafting spaces that resonate deeply, blending strength with subtlety, and functionality with artistry.

“To stand in this home is to feel its essence—a profound celebration of materiality, form, and emotion,” shares Studio Metanoia. “This is more than a residence; it is a testament to the enduring allure of bold and timeless design.”
