Seon yeon jae

Ten years ago, after leaving the company he had devoted more than twenty years to, the client was preparing to open a small barbecue restaurant. He poured everything he had built over the years into that place, determined that it would never fail. From then on, he and his wife lived in a small, single-room space above the restaurant, devoting all of themselves to the business with one goal in mind: to make the restaurant take root. Their efforts eventually bore fruit, and after enduring the bitter cold of a long winter, the couple finally began to dream of a warm home of their own. achime bagel

Achime Bagel is a small bakery located in Munjeong-dong, Seoul, conceived around the idea of beginning the day well. The project started from a simple thought: freshly baked bagels, made with good ingredients and handed over in a small but pleasant space, could be enough to create a meaningful morning experience. Achime Bagel follows a daily production and same-day sales principle, and we wanted this straightforward and sincere attitude to naturally appear in the space. Donggyu Kim Donggyu Kim Donggyu Kim Donggyu Kim The open kitchen became the central scene of the project. Rather than hiding the production process, we exposed the early-morning preparation, baking, and movement of the staff. The activity of prepa... More

Willow 997-1

There is a place where people of Seoul may have heard at least once when they think of Cheongnyangri District, which is Gyeongdong Market. It is Seoul’s largest traditional market since 1960, and it naturally started by the trade of herbal medicines that came from all parts of the country to this particular transportation hub area. As you enter the center of the market, you can find at a glance a very unique red brick building. Mingu Kang The two-story building was originally built in 1955 for the purpose of a cow feed warehouse; five years before the Gyeongdong Market was established. The building was once the center of this market, where merchants came in and out every day, but gradually was abandoned and forgotten over time.... More

arirang dowon

Arirang Dowon: Born at the Boundary of the Ordinary and the Extraordinary When we first located the land at "603 Tongsam-ri," we began to contemplate. If someone were to visit this place during an ordinary day, how could we spatially express the boundary between the ordinary and the extraordinary? Caption Arirang Dowon is situated on a seemingly ordinary road, appearing from the outside as an unremarkable, factory-like building. However, the moment one steps inside, an entirely different world unfolds. To emphasize this moment of transition, we designed a water wall on the front façade. The flow of water serves as a boundary between the ordinary and the extraordinary, offering visitors a visual delight and a sense of calm.... More

502 Coffee Roasters

The space flourishes and becomes clear and rich when various elements within it establish relationships and are visualized. While subjective, finding the expected comfort in places commonly referred to as large cafes can be challenging when visited in person. This difficulty stems from the absence of relationships among elements in the space and the lack of purpose. Kim Donggyu Kim Donggyu 502 Coffee Roasters, a key player in the start of the Korean specialty coffee market since 2009, expanded its existing cafe and roastery center to a new location in Nangok-ri, Yongin, Gyeonggi Province. confier

The contemporary Korean-French fine dining restaurant, "Confier," already well-known for its exceptional cuisine and performances in Dosan Park, has recently opened its doors near Seoul Station. Kim Donggyu Kim Donggyu Kim Donggyu Stof focused on applying and visualizing Confier's perspective on gastronomy, which seeks to "experience new tastes and visual food, showcasing the process of food becoming a work of art," within the spatial sequences. In theater, the virtual wall between the audience and the stage is referred to as the "fourth wall," and when the boundaries between the audience and the stage blur, it's called "breaking the fourth wall." With this concept, Stof aimed to encapsulate the creation of beautiful cuisine... More

Architecture in South Korea is distinguished by its disposition towards naturalism, simplicity and streamlined forms. Historically, South Korea's architectural landscape evolved under the influence of its neighbouring countries, particularly Japan and China, but also bore the imprint of its unique cultural identity.
