Fire Station Weinfelden

In 2013, the political commune of Weinfelden arranged an open architectural competition for a new single building to house the fire brigade and the Samaritan emergency services; their resources had up until then been distributed over various locations. Out of the 58 participants, it was the «Grisu» project by kit that was the winner. The jury praised the project as a cultivated industrial building. It stands out through its architectural precision and the impact it has in enhancing the overall urban impression of the route into Weinfelden. Detail: Design of “the village upside down”

Hub of Huts is a real-life Alice-in-Wonderland construction that is mysterious and mischievous, enchanting and entrancing. Described as “the village upside down,” it is a project by architectural firm NOA. Located in Olang, a municipality in South Tyrol in northern Italy, Hub of Huts is a dedicated well-being center that belongs to the Hotel Hubertus. Situated at the corner of Darwin and Loyola streets in front of an old tannery, Darwin 111, designed by Hermanos Goldenberg, is a residential building with a gastronomic place and parking.  Federico Kulekdjian The structure comprises two volumes interlinked via a circulation bridge and separated by an enclosed patio or a street, inspired by the typology of the formerly mentioned tannery. The Punta Rocca station on the Marmolada, located at 3,265 metres above sea level, represents the highest panoramic terrace in the Dolomites and a technically highly demanding high-altitude construction project. The building is exposed to extreme climatic conditions, limited accessibility, and complex logistical constraints due to its alpine location. Saxum Vineyard Equipment Barn

Located in the Templeton Gap area of West Paso Robles, this simple agricultural storage structure rests at the toes of the 50 acre James Berry Vineyard. Designed as a modern pole barn, the reclaimed oil field pipe structure’s primary objectives are to provide an armature for a photovoltaic roof to reduce the purchase of electric energy for the adjacent Saxum Winery, collect rainfall for irrigating trees and adjacent grazing meadow, as well as to provide workshop space and covered storage for farming vehicles, implements, and livestock supplies.  The photovoltaic system is designed to produce roughly 88,700 kWh per year, with the capacity to take Saxum Winery and the vineyard irrigation wells off-grid.   Photography: Casey...
