This project is the realization of the Architect’s long-held goal of designing healthy, sustainable homes. In early discussions with our client, a couple who had spent their careers in healthcare, we settled on the following spatial organization for the new home: 1) an upper-level living space perched over the sloping site with views of the harbor and the Long Island Sound beyond, and 2) a two-story interior space suited for nurturing a growing tree. Stack & Field is a small but generous extension of a 100-year-old weatherboard house on a tight inner-city block in Melbourne, Australia. It challenges a fundamental assumption of compact urban housing: that density requires consolidation. Located on a constrained and narrow site, the project plan dissolves layout and building form into a series of offset planes, layered rooms and courtyards and substitutes size for spatial richness. Food waste is one of the world’s most pressing environmental challenges. Each year, millions of tonnes of food are discarded before ever reaching a plate. Squandering precious land, water, and energy while producing methane, a greenhouse gas more harmful than carbon dioxide. The new Italgas Headquarters in Monselice, Veneto, consolidates administrative and operational functions within a single compact architectural body. The development includes approximately 1,200 sqm of office space and a 250 sqm warehouse. Located in the mountainous region of Wenzhou, F.X. Mayr will be the first holistic eco-wellness retreat in China. Drawing inspiration from its beautiful location - the flow of the secluded hills that IS the site – the building aims to touch the earth lightly. We envisioned a building, perched up off the ground , where nature and life within it, can continue to flow beneath it. Context & IntentSet within a listed civic ensemble in Eutin, the extension is conceived as a precise companion rather than a rival. Its calm volume picks up neighbouring cornice lines and structural rhythms, completing the courtyard and giving the complex a clearer figure. The old fire station in Kortrijk has been retrofitted by the Belgian practice ATAMA into a new public hub. This project, known as the Deelfabriek, or 'sharing factory,' was completed in September 2023 for Kortrijk’s city council. The "Tuighuizen" building, a protected monument since 2003, was built in 1940 as a brick and concrete structure with a central stair tower and a curved corner. Innovative Design Meets Sustainability. A furniture art piece co-designed by the Oval Partnership and HK Timberbank has recently been recognised for its innovative approach to sustainability and design, earning a spot on the FRAME Awards 2024 shortlist for “Furniture of the Year”. Titled “The Scents and the Soil”, the sculptural concierge counter features salvaged wood from a 400-year-old camphor tree found in a local village in Tai Po, Hong Kong.
