Designed for a challenging site in Big Sky, the lot is very wooded and rocky and has a lot of variation to the elevations of grade. Different community restrictions, building code regulations and HOA restrictions as well. The Oasis House is a double house – an outer openwork house that acts as a screen, shield, dome and boundary for the lush inner garden. It connects to the outside world through doors, openwork structures, openings and tilting glass elements. It welcomes the movement of light and air. Its function is to protect and shield the inner ecosystem of the garden and the second, inner house standing in that garden, which does not need a roof, thick walls or tight windows because it is protected by the outer house.
