The University Town

The development plan provides new perspectives on how to convert Aarhus Municipal Hospital into a campus integrated into the city, where Aarhus University interacts with the local urban and commercial environment in entirely new ways - amidst one of Denmark’s most unique constructed environments with a unique homogeneity in geometry and materials. With the conversion of the old hospital to the University Town - the site’s orig... More

Long known as a vibrant arts campus, the School of the Arts at the University of Nevada, Reno, has hosted the university’s art, music, theater, and dance departments at its arts complex designed by renowned Modernist architect Richard Neutra since 1962. Pernod Ricard University

The Pernod Ricard Group recently added its first university campus to its resources. This high-tech complex is designed around four “moments” – work, relaxation, accommodation and convivialité. It boasts four main centres, four different architectural styles and four materials: stone, wood, concrete and metal. The project has gained the BREEAM certification of “Very Good” because it embraces the concepts of sustainability that make it architecturally cutting edge in terms of technology, energy efficiency and respect for the environment. The learning centre is symbolic of the entire project. Its structure seems to disappear into its setting, thanks to the purity of its forms and the chosen materials: the reflection of the surrounding na... More

Pohang University of Science and Technology

POSTECH - Pohang University of Science and Technology is a small private polytechnic located in Korea, which is already considered one of the best private universities in the world, despite its relatively short history. With plenty of space both in the external campus and inside the structure, the designers at Kukbo Design decided to pave the vast interior floor with Lapitec. The large sunny lecture halls were thereby made even brighter by applying Bianco Polare Lapitec, with the Lux finish. On the other hand, the common area alternates Bianco Polare with darker bands of Nero Antracite Lux. More

Windsor University

Walking into the medical education building is literally like taking a breath of fresh air. The focal point is a three story Nedlaw Living Wall. The three-storey wall, supporting as many as 20 varieties of plants, uses the building's HVAC system to draw air through it, acting as a filter to remove contaminants (VOC’s). In addition to improving air quality, the plants help regulate the building's humidity and reduce costs for heating and cooling, it also acts as noise dampening and white noise (running water). Most important of all is the fact that the wall has become a gathering spot for students and faculty alike. The setting is relaxing and beautiful and a wonderful demonstration of environmental sustainability. More
