Urban oasis

The project includes the development of an additional two-storey exhibition block and outdoor activity spaces next to a Grade 2 Historic Building in the Eastern District of Hong Kong. The building, built in 1908, is the former Clubhouse of Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club, currently used by the Art Promotion Office as an Art Space named as “Oi!”.  Caption   Situated in a dense urban area, the Art Space is a precious breathing space in the city. Oasis exists in the relationship between deficiency and sufficiency. However, just as the deficiency that stands out in the current of the times changes, shouldn't the oasis also change its appearance? It was a factory area of a pharmaceutical company, but it was a place left like ruins after it was closed. It has been a long time since people have also been cut off. This minimalist home was originally designed for a retiring couple moving from an urban lifestyle to live out their golden years in solitude. After the project was abandoned, we recreated the design concept to adapt to more of an urban or suburban context to create a literal oasis for anyone seeking refuge from rugged external conditions. INSCAPE, a new meditation concept, opened in Manhattan 2016. Archi-Tectonics designed the Inscape concept not only as a one-off, but also for worldwide distribution. The first PROTO space in Chelsea occupies a large 6000sf ground floor. The space contains a set of large volumes; ellipsoid meditation spaces; a “Dome Room” and an “Alcove room”, an extensive retail space, as well as a lounge for guests. An important element of healthy living is found in lifestyle changes, meditation and ‘cleaner’ live-work environments.
