Oasis exists in the relationship between deficiency and sufficiency. However, just as the deficiency that stands out in the current of the times changes, shouldn't the oasis also change its appearance?
It was a factory area of a pharmaceutical company, but it was a place left like ruins after it was closed. It has been a long time since people have also been cut off. And it was cut off from the surroundings. But the impression we received when we first visited here was quite different from what we expected. It felt like we had found an oasis we had not yet discovered.
The modern and clean surrounding buildings were stark and stuffy, perhaps because of their high height and similar appearance. On the contrary, although there was no order, this place, which had been left to the touch of nature for a long time, was relaxed and comfortable. It was like a small oasis in a desert-like city. The chimney towering high in the center looked like a palm tree beckoning that there was an oasis here.
With the candid impression of this place as a motif, a plan was established to become a small oasis in the region. In particular, it focused on resolving the deficit of emotions, such as loss of emotional bond, which is the most problematic among the deficiencies of the same era. However, in the process, the existing nature-friendly atmosphere of this place was maintained as much as possible.
In fact, in the '80s, this place was an industrial site where economic deficiency could be resolved, but it would now be a small oasis for emotional deficiency relief as a playground where people can mingle, laugh, rest and play together.
The entire program consists of two buildings and outdoor space.
The picnic yard on the first floor of the main building is planned to allow people to enjoy picnics at any time in consideration of Korea's distinct four seasons. In particular, the grass on the floor makes people feel that they are outside even though they are indoors. And it is free because there are no designated seats. It is possible to flexibly take the appropriate interval in these days of coronavirus. And the ceiling lighting is unique, which visualizes the various emotions people will feel here in the form of lines.
The Exciting Hill on the second floor of the main building has a geometric structure resembling a hill. The structure, which has various heights and slopes, offers a variety of fun without separate play facilities.
The annex offers various other services, as well as the sale of F&B and souvenirs as a service yard.
The outdoor space has a large area of land surrounding both buildings, allowing them to run freely. In particular, there is a slide that surrounds the chimney in the courtyard, and it becomes a formative element that represents the character of the place. Next to it, there is a staircase that can reach the observatory, and if you climb one step at a time, you will see a new view.
