The design of this new square takes on the challenge to redefine hierarchy between driving and walking in public space. Pavement textures are homogenized throughout the square, roads are raised to sidewalk level only subtly demarcated. Serge Prison Sidewalks and terraces are increased in size on all sides, further reducing the proportion of space attributed to car use and implying to drivers they are treading on pedestrian ground and thus should drive carefully.The square itself acts as the focal point of leisure activities, hosting dense vegetation and a semi-circular bench around a topographic play and a fountain as informal playing area for children. Notre Dame de l'Assomption church in Le Teil was heavily damaged by the earthquake in November 2019. Restoring it would appear to be a risky and costly business. It was therefore agreed by the Town Council that it would be demolished and rebuilt nearby. An architectural competition was launched in the first half of 2023. Today we would like to propose a different vision for the future of Place Jean Macé, outside the official competition. The Ukrainian city of Dnipro has opened a renovated Uspenska Square, one of the oldest squares in the city. It was established more than 200 years ago. Dnipro is now an industrial city with over a million dwellers located 100 kilometers from the front line of the Russian-Ukrainian war. The reconstruction of Uspenska Square began in 2021, with 80% of the work completed, but in February 2022, the construction was forced to stop due to the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. But despite the ongoing war, the city is still trying to live: IDPs are coming here, and residents who left the city are returning. How can we adapt our cities for the coming challenges with rising water levels? ​The Coastal Path is a solution for the flood protection line to protect Vejle from storm surges and rising sea water level. Additional land is added to the current edge in a form of nature basins connected by three paths meandering between the different levels. The proposed paths and basins are designed to secure the coastal elevation until 2100.  The paths create a missing link between the city (the harbor and the city center) and the nature of Vejle Fjord and The Deer Park forest. Solhagaparken is a residential project in Masmo, a suburb located about 20 kilometers south of central Stockholm. The five-story building is situated next to the existing Solhagaparken.   Masmo is in many ways a typical suburban residential area in Vårby, Huddinge. The area was completed in 1964 and is characterized by several large apartment buildings in red brick, arranged around the lush Solhagaparken. Masmo is a place of great contrasts, with expansive green spaces and forests wedged between two elevated highways that connects the area to central Stockholm. The project arises as a solution to a commercial need in a recently inaugurated avenue located in the north of the city of Mérida, Yucatán.Being one of the first buildings on this avenue, a square with a sober and timeless character was designed, not subject to any style, responding to the chronological and urban context. The area around Vilnius Plaza is a mixed use development situated in Lithuania’s capital city. The development area enjoys direct visual links across the Nerris River to the Gediminas Castle Tower, one of Vilnius’ main historical attractions. To the south, the development abuts the Plaza to Vilnius Cathedral. The site, during the soviet era, was home to the City’s main football stadium which has since become unused and derelict. The residential area to the north with its tightly-knit pedestrian network connects the site back into the Šnipiškės neighborhood. Project name:  Five Corners Square in Warsaw Typology: Landscape Localization: Warsaw, Poland Year: 2016 Team: Jakub Figel, Filip Kurasz     IDEA The main project idea is to emphasize the integrity of the square with the surrounding buildings. On the groundfloor level, the strips outlined from the buildings corners symbolize the acoustic waves that are creating the “melody of the place”.
