Villa N1
Villa N1, is a single-family summerhouse located on the west coast of Sweden. It is situated in an area that was once a popular holiday region, but is now inhabited all year-round. Drawing on the vernacular of the region, which is renowned for its wooden barns with horizontal planks, the 190 m2 single-storey house is built entirely of wood, including the façade and roof. The oak facade is untreated, allowing it to age and mature over time, thus changing the appearance of the building.

MASS TIMBER TASTING ROOM FOR A NEW WINERY IN OREGON’S WILLAMETTE VALLEY
This new family-owned winery is located on 23 acres outside of Newberg, Oregon in Yamhill County. The goal was to create a tasting room experience that embodies the family’s approach to winemaking—a direct expression of the Oregon soils and climate without embellishment. Our intent was to reflect this winemaking philosophy with a design that connects to the vineyard experience while also responding to the views, climate, and Oregon’s emerging identity as a producer of great wine.

House Husarö
The location is the outer Stockholm archipelago. Tall pines give the forested site an untouched character. The house is placed in a clearing with a high position in the landscape, on a plateau facing the sea in the north. The property has been in the family for a long time with a couple of small complementary buildings, a boathouse and a guesthouse, that has been used for vacation stays. As the family grew with a new generation, the need for a larger house with more space followed.

It is community space toward various space where a person and the people including a gallery and the seminar can gather by conversion from the existing tenant space.
I made various space by finish and the level difference of the floor, studding while assuming it the efficiency space where the whole led to and considered it so that various acts and how to use were enabled. In addition, in the outside space integrally with the inside devise a flooring and a housing part to use it, and create half inside space by a louver outside. While this outdoor space wears planting, it becomes the buffering space with the inside and it is soft and wraps up internal space.

Perched at the northwest edge of an island in Georgian Bay, Ontario, the Grotto Sauna is a feat of old-world craftsmanship and new-world sustainability made possible by cutting-edge software and fabrication technology. When the clients—avid architecture and design enthusiasts—commissioned our studio to build a sauna, they wanted “to be surprised” by an out of the ordinary design and part of a creative storytelling process. Inspired by an Italian grotto—a secret water-filled cave concealed within unsuspecting rock formations—our experimental design pays homage to the extremities of the northern landscape to forge an architectural experience.

Cabin at Longbranch
Jim Olson’s reverence for nature and admiration of the site’s beauty is expressed in the design of this project located on Puget Sound and nestled amidst the towering fir trees of an ancient forest. What began as a 14-foot-square bunk house built in 1959 has morphed through subsequent remodels in 1981, 1997, 2003 and 2014 into a modest yet highly livable weekend retreat. Each successive addition and remodel has reused and integrated the previous structure rather than erasing it to reveal the cabin's architectural history.
At the age of eighteen, Olson began work on a bunkhouse for his family in Longbranch. Since then, he has continued to expand the small structure into both a private retreat and a touch point for his work worldwide.

This all-year cabin is located in the mountains above the village Ål, amidst cross-country ski tracks in winter and hiking tracks in summer. It is well suited for the family of five and designed to accommodate changes in family composition and a mix of generations in the years to come. The project has had a particular ambition to adapt to the existing topography and natural surroundings, while taking advantage of the beneficial opportunities of the site.

Hello House
The Hello House is a two-bedroom Victorian-era home and creative studio (and former shop) in Richmond, Melbourne (VIC), Australia. Most noticeably, the home features a large, white-brick wall featuring the word ‘HELLO’, that offers a conversation with the neighbouring buildings and its residents.
A skin of brick is all it takes to keep a secret and two worlds exist happily side by side with a public face that cheerfully greets the street while giving nothing away about the world behind. Inside, the house adjusts to the needs and moods of its residents – a cosy retreat in winter or an airy pavilion in summer – all secret from the outside world.

Bolton Residence
Having bought a beautiful plot of wooded land in Quebec’s Eastern Townships, the client dreamt of building a country house that would be in perfect symbiosis with its natural environment. This rugged, sloped site came to a natural plateau just below its highest point, becoming the perfect location to erect the house.
The house is characterized by two stacked volumes; a wooden clad volume anchored into the mountain supports a cantilevering ground floor volume above. This gable roofed volume raised into the air gives the sensation that the house is floating amongst the trees. Writing and drawing are activities that contribute to the creation of a parallel imaginative world and to producing infinite options whenever a condition of isolation or immersive solitude is needed. The small space is located in the lush and protected garden of a creative couple involved in the arts.

Kids Pod is a pavilion extension to an older project of ours, connected to the original via a glazed bridge. It is located on a vineyard on the Mornington Peninsula, with views across the vines and valley beyond. It contains a bedroom, playroom and bathroom for our clients’ current and future grandchildren. It is a reinterpretation of how we once imagined our own childhood cubbyhouse to be: playful, theatrical, secretive and robust.
Inside, a retractable wall and theatre-inspired curtain divide the rooms, permitting multiple configurations. They can be open and connected, or enclosed for privacy and rest. Cloudy Bay Winery: Shack II Guesthouse
Collaboration with Paul Rolfe Architects.
Cloudy Bay Shack establishes the connection between the image on the wine label and the direct experience of the vineyard. We shaped the building to gain vistas along the vineyards to the Richmond Ranges, whose silhouette adorns each bottle.
An entry sequence has been established to deliberately dramatise the ‘Cloudy Bay’ view. On arrival, visitors face two weathered steel walls, resembling someone holding their arms out to welcome an old friend. When the door is opened, a warm timber interior is revealed and the view is obscured by a series of concertina timber panels. Plywood Trio apartment in Madrid
The apartment refurbishment is solved through the introduction of three plywood elements in the domestic space. The first element is composed by a staircaseused to get to the main bedroom. Down the stair landing there is an entrance to a guest bedroom which wardrobe is located down the second flight of this staircase. Blankets, slippers, magazines and other domestic devices are stored down the first staircase flight. The second plywood element is a kitchen work surface which is opened to the dining room. Down this surface is located the kitchen storage. The third plywood element is a big wooden drawer that solves the bathroom entrance and a coats wardrobe. Small Box House
The residence is built on the western hillside of Mt. Moiwa, overlooking the city of Sapporo.
From the casual lifestyle of the client and his wife, and also the request to have a part of the house turn into a cafe in the future, we aimed to create a space to be flexible to support events, such as the new birth of a child and opening a new cafe, where various life-scenes existing with reasonable distances to each other inside a simple void, like a barn.
