The 2400m2 construction site with two sides bordering Suoi Cam 2 lake (Binh Phuoc's largest irrigation lake) is surrounded with many fruit trees: durian, longan, star apple, mangosteen, coconut, etc. The seemingly biggest challenge of the project is to create a fully functional living space for a family of 4 without changing the original structure of the old stilt house bought from the local with an area of 10mx10m. Japanese architect Daisuke Kishina –BAUM- has completed a silver galvalium steel plated house in Fukui city. The dwelling slots into a residential densed-packed area and it runs almost the full length of the plot. The 197 square-meter volume includes two storey connected by a steel-wooden staircase. All along the stairs BAUM design a wall library, with a maximum width of 10 meter, conceived as a nucleus of the residence.  "We manage to create a space where you can stay, read, enjoy while going up and down. This wooden dacha was built in the historic town of Tarusa for a creative family of artists. The surroundings are low-rise traditional Tarusa houses and weekender houses. ­­ The client asked us to create a building that looked like an old Russian dacha, but we instead proposed a design that combined traditional and modern solutions. The site of Daylighthouse 2 is next to the huge lake IJsselmeer. In between the lake and the house is a beautiful swamp for birds. Almere planned row houses on this location and the town house is the end of a row facing south west. Mirck Architecture translated the wishes of the client into a wooden cube of 9 by 9 by 9 meter. The facade, inner space and climate are influenced by sunlight and daylight. The particular structure of the cube is shown everywhere and continued in the plot wall and the shed.The ground floor living space is fully glazed to the south and west side.
