Founded in 1993 and led by founding partner Cüneyt Onur and managing partner Özge Kadayıfcı, CO Mimarlık is an interior design and architecture studio based in Moda, Kadıköy, Istanbul. The studio works at every scale, from homes and villas to offices and shops, and its strongest references are in restaurants, cafés, bars, pubs, hotels and wedding venues. Over three decades it has completed more than 400 projects in total across Turkey and Europe (Germany and the Netherlands).
The studio's signature is a method rather than a style. Every project begins by listening: to the story of the brand, to the guests it wants to welcome and to the way the kitchen and the service will work. Analysis becomes a single concept, and design carries that concept into the space through colour, texture, material, light and detail. Space, brand and operation are designed at the same table, which is why no two of the studio's restaurants look alike.
CO Mimarlık works from the first site assessment to opening day. Depending on the project, the studio provides design with site coordination, partial turnkey delivery (custom furniture, lighting and decorative elements produced in Turkey, exported and installed on site) or full turnkey delivery. Many of its clients' brands were born with their first venue designed by the studio, and several have grown into multi-branch chains that carry the same identity from city to city.
The studio's work has been recognised by the European Property Awards, with Highly Commended distinctions in the Leisure Interior category for Balıkçıköy Fahri (2013-2014) and for the OT Kafe concept (2015-2016).
