Residential bathroom renovation and addition/new construction.
This bathroom was in dire need of an update and additional space to function for multiple people. Using sustainable and natural materials, stretching a marble slab to the limits, and a new efficient floor plan, this outdated and tired bathroom turned into a relaxing, modern haven!

The original bathroom was small with a terrible, inefficient layout. The homeowners needed a bathroom for their teenage kids to share. This meant storage space for each, 2 separate sinks, and a separate tub and shower.
The bathroom was also dated and very 80s so the homeowner wanted a modern update. The homeowner loved natural materials and wanted to incorporate stone and textural elements throughout the bathroom.

We added approximately 36ft2 to this bathroom by bumping out the exterior wall a little more than 3ft. This allowed room for a double vanity, a freestanding tub, a separate shower, and a comfortable walkway for better circulation and flow. We also added two windows for more natural lighting.
We installed a wall-hung toilet that could be hidden behind a privacy wall and take up as little footprint as possible.

We wanted to be as efficient and budget-conscious as possible while keeping sustainability at the forefront. We used all sustainable and responsibly sourced materials, and made sure to use every inch of the stone slab so no stone would go to waste.

We used Fireclay Tile's recycled body tiles on the walls and Cle Tile's Belgian Reproduction terracotta tiles on the floor. The walls were covered in Portola Paints Limewash, an all-natural, chemical, and toxin-free paint made from natural clays, minerals, and pigments. The vanity cabinet is painted in Farrow & Ball's water-based, low VOC finish.

The homeowner is a professional painter and artist. She appreciates materiality and the natural beauty patina brings to a space. She loves her home to be different from her neighbor's and uses it as an opportunity to express her creativity and love of art. Because of this, we were able to explore texture and movement, color and contrast, while keeping the palette modern, minimal, and intentional. She fell in love with a rose gold calacatta vagli marble slab with pinks, greens, purples, and golds. This marble looks like a painting in itself! The slab really stretched the budget so we wanted to use every square inch of it strategically so there was no waste which was really important to the client!
