The whole idea of this project is based on the unity of strict architectural lines and organic natural elements. The main design scheme is a play of contrasts: powerful and delicate forms, heavy and light elements, black clinker bricks and light concrete panels, and textured and smooth surfaces.
A significant element in this project is the interaction of exterior and interior spaces. The border between them is eliminated through extensive glazing of public zones and the master bedroom on the first floor.
The façade is decorated with a wall of oak trunks that creates a dynamic contrast with deep dark surfaces. An open and spacious yard, a cozy terrace, a lounge space, a barbecue area, an awning for the car, and storage space make the adjoining land serene and comfy.
The interior is simple and elegant. The guest section of the house is a functional zone with a kitchen, a dining room, a living room, and a big library with a 6 metre high ceiling. The fireplace is an important interior element. Аpart from having a decorative function, it warms up the entire ground floor. All the furniture is made by Ukrainian craftsmen according to the workshop’s sketches.
A light metal staircase with wooden steps leads up to the first floor. Here there are private zones and a master bedroom with a spacious bathroom separated by a glass partition.
All the lighting fixtures are spotlights, embedded in the ceiling. In the dining room, there are massive “Cone” lamps of Serhii Makhno's design.
Dark and neutral colours are combined with bright interior elements. The overall colour palette of the house is enriched with shades of brown, blue, yellow, and orange specks.
Buddy’s House is a model space, displaying calmness on an island among the waters of contemporary life’s rhythm. Every tiny detail matters here. It intensifies the interior. It makes the space exceptional. It makes this house home.
