Sergy Boy at Melbourne Quarter

Sergy Boy is a multi-experiential cafe bar offering boutique, specialist coffee and everyday dining experience on Collins Street.

With its European inspired interiors, Sergy Boy pays homage to the spirit of the bustling streets in Melbourne and draws inspiration from Melbourne's Victorian era, keeping the tradition of "the local".

Every aspect of the cafe is designed with the customer exeperience in mind. From chic, industrial interior, Sergy Boy hits all the senses whilst making you feel completely at home.

With a refined palette that communicates warmth, elegance and sustainability. soft edges and curved forms are featured throughout the design. The honest and warm textures are further reflected through timber panelling, handmade tiles, leather and rattan inserts into joinery which take on a fresh, modern twist. The vibe is casual and familar for customers to dine in.

What was the brief?

To produce a cafe that was authentically Melbourne and the design had to reference the site, being the newly developed Melbourne Quarter Precinct, Docklands. Lend Lease, the landlord, had a very strong vision for the brief and were heavily involved from inception to completion.

Who are the clients and what's interesting about them?

Having worked with the client on other hospitality projects before, our mutual understanding of how the space should be used and feel, was a very natural one. Sergy Boy is a thriving business in the Melbourne CBD and we are currently working on another Sergy Boy opening up soon in 2020.
