The proposal of this house is located in a rural region of Calabria in Italy, namely Copanello, within a plot which is surrounded by immense agricultural areas. The greenery landscape of the wider setting of the plot during summer period was the starting point which defined the configuration of the project, both for the built and the uncovered areas.

The house is materialized with three volumes laterally shifted in relation to each other and adapted to enjoy the surrounding conditions, the views, the shade, the sense of place. Such shifting generated alternating lit and shaded outdoor spaces bringing into the house the ever changing climatic conditions.

Drawing inspiration from the architectural elements of vernacular architecture, a centralized covered terrace at ground level ending up in a patio was arranged perpendicular to the three volumes thus proposing a leeward shelter, the outdoor vital area of a meditteranean house. All the living areas are open onto the covered terrace whereas the patio which is consolidated with small species that existed in the place offers an intimate enclosure open to the sky where you can enjoy nature and silence.

Α pool is located alongside the south boundary of the plot perpendicular to the outdoor living space and parallel to the main facade thus offering all the areas of the house the presence of water.

White volumes, self and cast shadows, greenery and sky shape the identity of the proposal by attempting to provide an harmonic composition of natural and artificial elements within an intimate color pallette.
