Zefi’s Design Zefi's bar is a boutique cocktail & food bar with an elegant vintage look.

The owner envisioned his bar to be a comfortable place yet with a gone by era style and furniture that would grow old with character. The brief was simple: to have a unique experience when coming to the bar, to be memorable.

In addition to some exciting cocktails, the bar also serves a selection of Mediterranean classic food and the design team wanted to incorporate a homely influence to conjure up a sensation of comfort yet feeling in a special place.

We broke up the rectangular space by painting in a dark industrial grey the steel structure and creating different seating areas in front of a nine meter bar counter.

A range of materials has been used to transform the space and give it a vintage appearance: blackened steel, soft brushed leather, wood, exposed bricks and antiqued mirror. The curtains, blinds and pendants soften the harder surfaces, adding some colour and character to a subdued atmosphere.

Distinctive sitting areas were created to suit various moods and different sizes of groups: some tall bar stools to create a buzz at the bar for small parties, some steel /leather chairs with cool small stools and large ottoman to suit large parties, and some deep sofas with scatter cushions can be used for medium size groups and offer a more relaxed feel.

We were creative in using furniture that were based on classic vintage designs but that have been modernized. The furniture is very versatile and suggestive to interact between friends and new friends!

The style of the bar is also reflected in the carefully selected original artwork with movie posters from the 40’s. They compliment the accents of colors used around add humour. We added some novel accessories to enhance the homely feel. The atmosphere is intimate, voguish, with the use of fabric pendant lights combined with tassel ropes, creating a hovering light glow.

All this combined allows Zefi’s bar to stamp it’s unique identity on the London scene, conducive to a great atmosphere and experience.
