Designed by Bean Buro, the office space covers two floors for a total floor area of 22,000 sq ft (2,040 sq m) within a Hong Kong office tower. Colour plays a key role, with a ‘ruby’ colour scheme inspired by the company’s restaurant heritage. Alongside this, accents of blue, red, and green are subtly used on floors, fabrics, lattice frames and acoustic baffles.

Deviating from a traditional office space, the new office for Jardine Restaurant Group, one of the leading restaurant groups in Asia, offers a highly agile, sociable, and paperless work environment.

Visitors arrive at a welcoming reception at the lower floor, which is a warm timber ‘box’ element with a terrazzo counter and a brass countertop, before entering the stairwell to the floor above. Painted a monochromatic ruby shade, the stairwell atrium has a feature lighting installation suspended from a white ceiling panel, which in itself creates a halo effect on the ceiling slab to heighten the double-height nature of the space.

On the upper floor landing, social furniture and collaboration booths are spread around to the stairwell to encourage interaction between users. Overhead a red ceiling mesh system creates ripple-like shadows below, with the tasting kitchen and tasting room in the background subtly divided by translucent glazed partitions.

The upper floor café has a variety of furniture elements including bar counters along windows, loose café tables, a centralised island with colourful frames to locate a set of fixed timber tables equipped with sockets and wireless charging.

From the cafe, the boardroom can be seen in the backdrop with a timber ceiling and a carpet that features dynamic colours, distinguishing it from other spaces. Moveable partitions allow the space to open up and connect with the café, accommodating up to 200 people for large gatherings.

Also in the backdrop to the café is a set of meeting spaces and a large training room which can be partitioned into smaller training spaces. The ceiling features colourful acoustic baffles, while the walls and partitions are equipped with writable surfaces to maximize productivity during training sessions.
