Classon Residence was a complete gut renovation of a duplex apartment in a historic Clinton Hill brownstone.  There were not many original details left inside when the home was purchased, only the sage colored fireplace mantel, which is lovely and somewhat understated.  The character of the rest of the apartment was designed to integrate well with the mantel, so it did not feel like an unrelated aftifact once the renovation was complete.

The owners are a young family that loves to entertain.  The open floor plan and warm minimalist materials help to create a welcoming atmosphere.  Many of the materials used in the project are hand made, like the zellige tiles in the kitchen, and the wall tiles in the shower.  This handmade quality really adds a level of depth, warmth and history.  Additionally, the mateirals used are very honest and natural, which is something we strive for in all out projects.  Three types of natural stone were used throughout the project, as well as terra cotta, ceramic and cement tiles, new hardwood flooring, and oak millwork.
