Batten Thermo-D is a thermally modified Scots pine batten designed for exterior and interior applications, including facades, solar shading, decking details, and small architectural structures. The timber is modified at 212–215°C using heat, steam, and water, without the addition of chemical preservatives. The Thermo-D treatment increases durability and dimensional stability, with Brolis classifying the timber as durability class 2 and suitable for above-ground exterior use class 3.
Moisture-related radial and tangential swelling is at least 50 percent lower than untreated Scots pine, while the timber can be left uncoated and allowed to weather naturally to grey.
Brolis Timber holds PEFC Chain of Custody certification, and its Thermo-D solid Scots pine is covered by Environmental Product Declaration EPD-IES-0032258:001, valid until May 2031.
