COBION® is a range of low-carbon concrete solutions developed by Danucem to reduce the embodied carbon associated with concrete construction while retaining the structural and performance properties of conventional mixes. The range is available in strength classes from C12/15 to C30/37, covering common building applications, alongside specialist formulations for piles and concrete floors.
Danucem defines COBION® concrete as having at least 30 percent lower CO2 emissions than standard concrete based on CEM I cement. Its reduced carbon footprint is supported by lower-carbon cement formulations, a clinker factor below 65 percent, the potential use of alternative cementitious materials, and ongoing optimisation of manufacturing processes. Carbon performance is assessed as global warming potential per cubic metre, with Danucem using its own CO2 labelling system to differentiate mixes.
