The inspiration for the design comes from a desire to explore the potential of using two simple and graphic planes in juxtaposition, and to consider how these slightly different forms can relate to each other.The ergonomics are determined by a flexible connection between the seat and the back which allows the backrest to move with the weight of the user.The design is deliberately expressive, but also very simple and references in a gentle way mid-century typologies via the frame structure, and allows for a combination of materials which have always appealed – the forgiving nature of wood and the strictness of steel. The result is a chair which has unmistakable contemporary character and at the same time, a reassuring context.
