COOL WOOD is a fire-resistant engineered timber system developed by Shelter Co., Ltd. for use as load-bearing columns and beams in mid- to high-rise buildings. The system achieves one-, two-, or three-hour fire-resistance ratings through material composition and detailing rather than reliance on applied fireproof membranes, allowing timber to remain exposed.
COOL WOOD has an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) registered in accordance with ISO 14025, providing third-party verified life-cycle data on its environmental impacts. As a timber-based structural system, it contributes to biogenic carbon storage within the building fabric and supports the use of domestically sourced wood, reducing reliance on carbon-intensive structural materials and enabling greater transparency in embodied carbon assessment.
