PPG Duranar® Extrusion Coatings are high-performance liquid architectural finishes formulated with a proprietary blend of 70% polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF), acrylic resins, and advanced pigment technologies. Designed for aluminum extrusions used in curtain walls, windows, doors, and other exterior building components, the coatings provide long-term resistance to ultraviolet exposure, color fading, chalking, acid rain, chipping, and peeling. When applied by an approved applicator, Duranar coatings meet or exceed FGIA/AAMA 2605 requirements for high-performance architectural aluminum finishes.

The durability and weather resistance of the coating can help extend the service life of aluminum facade components, maintain their appearance and protective performance, and reduce the frequency of refinishing or replacement. This can limit the material use, waste, and environmental impacts associated with repeated maintenance over the life of a building. Certain Duranar formulations are also available with infrared-reflective pigment technology, which can reduce solar heat absorption and help lower cooling demand when specified as part of an appropriate facade or roofing system.
