Hempcrete blocks by The Hemp Block Company are prefabricated bio-based masonry units made from hemp shiv — the woody core of the hemp plant — bound with a lime-based binder. Lightweight and vapour-permeable, the blocks provide insulation, moisture buffering, and acoustic regulation, contributing to stable internal conditions without the need for additional insulation layers.

Composed of 100 percent natural materials, the blocks use hemp, a rapidly renewable agricultural by-product, and store carbon absorbed during plant growth, enabling the wall build-up to achieve a carbon negative outcome. Supplied as pre-cast units, they allow for efficient construction with reduced waste and simplified wall build-ups compared to conventional masonry systems.
