LAYERS

‘Layers’ is a joint design project between JOLI and TAL, Belgian manufacturers of furniture and lighting respectively. Both companies brought the renowned designer Sylvain Willenz on board to design a complementary range of furniture (chair, tables, modular cabinet) and lighting. Before starting on the project, Willenz defined the DNA of JOLI and TAL. JOLI is known for distinctive materials and TAL for its technical know-how. He added a new and relevant dimension to each company's DNA. By playing with form, materials, dimensions and techniques, 'layers' emerge. "Through the effect of these different layers, the designs reveal their finesse", explains the designer. At first sight the collection looks simple. "That is just appearance", according to Willenz. "The complexity is hidden behind the layering that characterizes the collection. The different layers that make up the designs also reveal flexibility".
