The Danish furniture brand Globe Zero 4 underlines its philosophy of developing innovative products for the international furniture market. This time with Scoop, designed by one of Scandinavia’s most influential design groups, KiBiSi.
Scoop is a family of contract market furniture designed for the overlap between private spaces and public areas. The name relates to the loader inspired scoop construction.
"Scoop is the logic output of a clear idea: The character of the series lies in the straight forward appearance – a kind of ideogram of how it works. A design identity based on high quality manufacturing and the unique feeling in use makes Scoop a classic example of aesthetic sustainability - designed to last for generations”, says KiBiSi partner and Head Of Design, Lars Larsen.
The innovative gyroscope like suspension system enables the user to tilt the chair forward and backwards, which conveys a feeling of being carried - a free suspendedfeel. The Y-shaped beam creates a visual and functional overlap between seat and base.
About the development of Scoop, KiBiSi partner and creative director, Jens Martin Skibsted says: “We wanted to avoid cookie cutter fancying. We wanted to stay clear of a home decorative cutesyproduct and contract business polish. We needed to establish a new middle ground that would bridge private and public spaces. Yet, this wasn’t an exercise in style. We had to come up with an entirely new suspension system to build the gravity of the product inside out.”
Globe Zero 4’s CEO, Lars Schmidt Hansen continues:“Scoop is a versatile piece of furniture, which matches the increasing complexity of corporate interior décor perfectly. It’s a chair that encourages activity and interaction; while its simple visual appearance increases its usage possibilities in different environments.”
Scoop merges craft and technology: The innovative technical edge increases comfort, yet maintains a clear and simple Scandinavian appearance. The chair has a tailor upholstered cast foam seat and an injection molded aluminum frame. The scoop family comprises a conference chair, a lounge chair, and a lounge/side table in two differing heights.
Scoop is variable with frames in polished aluminum and a black or white powder coat. The chairs are available in a range of different fabrics and upholstery qualities.
