Thermafiber® Safing is a mineral wool insulation designed for use in perimeter fire containment systems, particularly at the interface between floor slabs and curtain wall assemblies in high-rise and commercial buildings. Manufactured from natural and recycled stone wool, it provides excellent fire resistance, thermal insulation, and acoustic performance.
The product’s non-combustible composition enables it to act as a critical barrier, helping to prevent the spread of flames and smoke between floors while also improving the building envelope’s energy efficiency. It carries an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) showing at least a 20 percent reduction in Global Warming Potential compared with conventional products, contributing to LEED v4.1 credits for Environmental Product Declarations and Low-Emitting Materials.
Thermafiber® Safing is GREENGUARD Gold certified for low VOC emissions and tested to the California Department of Public Health Standard v1.2-2017, supporting healthier indoor air quality. Its long service life, recycled content, and durability further enhance its contribution to sustainable, resilient building design.
