1005 Broadway

This 38-unit affordable development, a partnership between Causeway Development and The Neighborhood Developers, brings new public open space and pedestrian connectivity to the Mill Creek edge between Chelsea and Revere. All living spaces and critical building systems are elevated a full story, ensuring resilience in the face of current or future coastal flooding. Certified at the PHIUS+ 2018 Passive House standard, the project combines well-insulated, airtight, and durable building envelope assemblies with highly efficient mechanical systems, and a rooftop photo-voltaic array to maximize operational energy efficiency, resident comfort, and indoor air quality.

These efficient systems also facilitate “passive survivability,” allowing the spaces to maintain comfortable conditions for longer periods of time during loss of power or heat. The design provides a generous landscaped plaza, park space, and occupiable green roof to improve the resident and pedestrian experience. The site’s location within 0.1 miles of two key MBTA bus routes, and dedicated Electric Vehicle charging stations, promote sustainable modes of transportation.
