The objective was to convert a small one-bedroom Greenwich Village apartment into a one-bedroom loft, giving the appearance of one open space while maintaining two separate and private areas. All ceilings were raised, revealing the concrete structure and adding volume. A glass top enclosure enlarges the space visually and brings natural light into the interior of the apartment where the kitchen and bathroom are located.

The existing concrete column acts like a hinge between the three main living spaces: bedroom, living room, and kitchen-dining room, producing visual diagonals that create a feeling of spaciousness. The closet/bookshelf acts as a furniture piece separating the bedroom/living room with large sliding doors on two sides that favor openness and double circulation. Windows with mirrored sidings reflect more light and amplify the effect of the windows.
