Located in an urban setting in the heart of the city that is densely populated with hotels and the like, 30 Bencoolen is a 13 storey hotel that needed a refresh after its last renovation.  We sought to create a design for the new hotel that provides a comfortable, value-for-money transitory accommodation. A home away from home, the hotel is strategically located within close proximity of Singapore’s heritage precincts, Orchard Road as well as the CBD.

The façade features aluminium panelling with a pattern which is a consistent theme throughout the hotel.  The hotel interiors boast a relaxed and breezy atmosphere, as a home ought to feel, yet highly refined in palette and style, employing a material palette that echoes the tropical climate, albeit with contemporary design sensibility and restraint.

The design for the guestrooms is simple, and emphasis is on a very practical and functional room layout and amenities. The interior contrasts shades of dark wood and highly textured materials with soft furnishings and furniture that provide a warm, residential quality. All functional requirements are thoughtfully incorporated into the details, always keeping the overall design simple and intuitive.
