The house's program was organized in two perpendicular “blocks”, using a regular 350x350cm overlapping grid with all columns positioned in the perimeter of each volume - hence the name of the house.
The slabs on the upper block and on the top of the lower block are “steel-deck” slabs, while the floor of the lower block and around the external area are traditional reinforced concrete slabs that were cast on site. Drywall was used in all internal partitions, while the external "perimetral" walls are made of light concrete blocks.
Two 7-meter-long cantilevered sections at each end of the upper floor create covered areas on the ground floor that serve as extensions to the verandas, social area and/or a carport at the northwest portion of the plot. Retractable and translucent awnings were positioned in all existing openings. They can control the intensity of natural light inside the house and/or adjust the desired privacy in each room.
