Trestrazos Interior Design as Designer and Project Manager

Trestrazos reinvents the Pirámides Hotel: calm and comfort right in the heart of Madrid

The challenge was to transform a large, cold space into a welcoming environment that invites guests to unwind, enjoy and return. The creative idea, as the common threadof the project, originated from the thought of a large greenhouse with romantic touches in the heart of the city.

The 93 rooms, where serenity and peacetake priority, contrast perfectly with the hotel's common spaces. These, conversely, serve for working or relaxing as well as sharing and enjoying.

The iconic Pirámides Hotel, locatedon Paseo de las Acacias in Madrid and managed by the ActaHOTELS Group, has been completely renovated by the Trestrazos interior design studio. More than 4,800 m² have been refurbished, with six floorsincluding 93 rooms, bathrooms, dining rooms, lounges, kitchens, and reception. The challenge was to turn a large and cold hotel into a welcoming and warm space that invites guests to unwind, enjoy and return.

“With the challenge posed and thanks to the trust and freedom given, the idea of a large greenhouse with romantic touches in the heart of the city originated. We imagined an environment full of plants, glass, iron, and aged mirrors, creating a unique atmosphere and a haven of peace in the midst of the urban bustle. This idea has been the common thread of the project. All the design choices were aligned with this creative concept, providing coherence and consistency to each step of the process," explains Elena Navarro, designer, and founder of TrestrazosInteriorismo.

Shared areas: relaxand joy in connection with nature.
The entrance to the hotel is through a semi-glazed cube that combines aged mirrors, treated glass with old and black gold, floral wallpaper, and floral decoration. This transitional space softens the shift from the outside bustle to the inner peace, leading to an impressive six-meter-high hall. Moving into the hall, the focus goes to tall windows, walls covered with exquisite floral murals and breathtaking trees of up to 4.5 meters high. The rich presence of plants creates a unique and distinctive environment, created with such beauty that transmits a sense of peace. The reception, driven by a twist in the design, is transformed across its length into abar, resulting in a fun, cozy, and open space, without constraint spaces. Likewise, the addition of another bar with outdoors views becomes an ideal meeting point to enjoy and relax, while allowingto observe the hustle and bustle of the city from a comfortable position.

The furniture combines tables and high stools with wooden armchairs and benches, all upholstered with fabrics in mustard, grey, and floral prints. The bars, with ultra-compact porcelain surfaces and captivating orange veins are enhanced by elegant gold-tone lamps. The floor, made of porcelain with an antique wood finish, serves as a base for luxurious metal structures designed and personalized by the interior design studio. Thesestructures integrate glass and aged mirror, creating aninteresting interaction between the visible and non-visible elements in the structural ensemble.

Next to the reception, several meeting roomsare available in an environment that keeps the common thread of connecting with nature. Framed by solid metal structures and glass components, these spaces are equipped with large wooden tables, seating in diverse shades and fun multi-position lamps.

The public bathrooms have elegant wallpaper-covered walls, earth-colored tiles in vertical format, large backlit mirrors, hanging resin sinks and the same resistant flooring as in the rest ofshared areas.

The breakfast room, with views of the city through large windows, is decorated with floral murals and plenty of plants. It has versatile folding tables and comfortable chairs with wooden backrest and seats upholstered in mustard and beige shades. The buffet furniture, made of oak planks, features surfaces made of sintered sheets with earth color veins and a natural touch of matte gold on the top, which creates a cozy and functional room.

Rooms: 93 spaces for privacy, serenity, and comfort
“Our commitment to a nature-inspired style is recognized in every corner, including the 93 rooms, with quadruple, triple, and double options. Designed to be spaces of serenity and relaxation, they present low slatted headboards with acoustic absorption. On them, we have placed a beautiful paper that resembles a forest observed through old or fogged glass,” says the designer. The rooms are equipped with fireproof curtains with natural finishes, armchairs upholstered in velvet-effect fabric, textiles with floral motifs and sofa beds as comfortable as a real bed. The main shades are stone, matte old gold, grayish greens, and matte wood.

The bathrooms have been designed to create visual comfort and relaxation, with refined lighting, hanging sinks, backlit mirrors, and walk-in showers. These are completedwith25 cm glass shower doors that provide greater functionality and style. Everythingcomes in stone and matt white shades, and both the floor and the walls are covered with the same material and porcelain finish, creating an enveloping and comfortable environment.

The comprehensive renovation by Trestrazos at the Pirámides Hotel marks the beginning of a new stage for this spot in Madrid. Modern, comfortable, warm, and welcoming, the hotel offers guests an unrivaled experience in every stay and a peaceful haven from the hustle and bustle of the city.
