TIMELESS CONTINUITY IN A MILANESE INTERIOR

Located on the third floor of an elegant 1950’s building, the apartment spans 170 sqm and includes two bedrooms, a study, two bathrooms and a long corridor that connects the living room to the kitchen. The corridor, a key spatial element, also posed the primary design challenge becoming the focal point of our intervention.
To address this, we shifted the dividing wall between the corridor and the study to create a full-height lacquered wood wardrobe, transforming the hallway into a functional, equipped passage. At both ends, this custom-designed wall system becomes an architectural opportunity to establish continuity and coherence throughout the apartment.

On the living room side, it opens into an open-shelved wardrobe, also in lacquered wood. Completing this functional composition is a vertical module in Oak-veneered wood with a ribbed glass door, designed as a bar cabinet. On the opposite end, facing the sleeping area, the same system morphs into a boiserie that conceals a structural pillar.

The apartment's main rooms have been redesigned for greater rationality and functionality, tailored to the needs of the family who will inhabit the space.
By integrating part of a former bathroom, the kitchen becomes a liveable, well-equipped environment, featuring a niche-fitted full-height cabinet, an island with a cooktop and a separate dining table.

As in many of our interior projects, custom-designed wardrobes play an integral role, contributing to spatial organization while imparting a distinctive, personal identity to the home.
The choice of materials and colors was driven by the existing white Carrara marble flooring in the living room and the original Douglas window frames.

Alongside color, contrast emerges as a defining theme: between natural light, which transforms the atmosphere throughout the day, and the interplay of materials, lending character and depth to the space.

The bathrooms are reorganized as well: one, windowless, now accessible directly from the corridor, and the other, private and connected to the master bedroom, features a built-in bathtub. The master suite is also enlarged and outfitted with a double-sided walk-in wardrobe, crafted in lacquered wood.
