This special assignment is set on a plot of 5000m2 in Chicureo, at the north side of Santiago. The client is a young couple with two daughters who have chosen to emigrate from the congestion of the city. Given the close relationship between mother and daughter, they decide to take a whole life plan, but with sufficient independence to live in separate houses. One particular restriction of the site is that in case of designing two houses, they must be physically linked. The project thus joins a main house of 261m2 on two levels with a one floor house of 125 m2. From the exterior of the property both volumes are perceived as a single elongated and hermetic body. The space separating the two houses is occupied by a pool. From the interior; space opens its views to the north, catching natural sun light and the surrounding landscape.

The expression of strength of the architecture is enhanced by a rough travertine marble coating, where the horizontal stonework tiling predominates over vertical to accentuate the horizontality of the project. The fenestrations are expressed as mass subtraction operations. The scale of the project responds to the surrounding landscape, as a geographic counterpoint, avoiding domestic references and highlighting its monolithic condition.
