The commission was to refurbish and restore an apartment of 165m2. The original neo-classical architecture was constructed in 1954, and is located in Providencia, Santiago, Chile.
As restoration work it was decided to maintain and restore plaster moldings and original cornices, as well as the existing parquette wood floor that was polished and vitrified.
In regard to the intervention, we worked with a lighting proposal that emphasizes the original decorative elements and the proportions of the spaces. Besides, all the windows were replaced by aluminum tilt systems with acoustic and thermo panel glasses to improve the quality of the interior ambience.
The kitchen was expanded and completely remodeled to create a tone of contemporary looking speech, which contrasts with the historic style architecture, creating a dialogue between past and present.
