Remodeling of apartment in Republica, Sao Paulo Downtown area.
When I was comissioned the project, the clients asked for a project that not only met their needs, but also had a relation with the surrounding landscape and the ongoing transformation of Sao Paulo's downtown area.

This region, formerly occupied by the elite during the 50's went through a downfall during the 80's -00's. Currently, many young businesses and people with fresh ideas are moving downtown in order to be less car-dependent and looking for plurality.

The materials and pallete where chosen in order to honor the time when the building was made, when Sao Paulo's modern and brutalist architecture was at its peak. Concrete beams and pilars were revealed and the original textures of the building were preserved.

The layout was designed in order to improve natural ventilation and lighting. The space was thought so the apartment could frame the external landscape. On one side, it is possible to see the old part of downtown and on the other side, the new part.
