The Amplifier event and coworking space was opened at the listed former AEG industrial site which is now part of the GSG commercial park in Berlin Wedding in May 2019. Adjacent to the heritage assembly hall built by Peter Behrens in 1911/12 the client’s vision was to create an outstanding venue that would respectfully highlight the existing industrial structure while at the same time creating a modern impressionwith a lighting design for coworking scenario as well as events.
This was achieved by combining modern LED luminaires with a traditional cold cathode installation as well as an innovative lighting control system.
The most significant lighting elements are:
_Indirect lighting of the vaulted ceiling for a bright and atmospheric general lighting scene. The vaulted ceiling is illuminated by custom linear profile luminaires, which run underneath the beams and are equipped with track adapters which provide them with 230V and DALI Signal from the tracks.
_Two large modern chandeliers and several wall sconces with an industrial look create an atmospheric night time scene.
_Accent and functional lighting by track luminairespositioned atmain ceiling structure. The tracks are mounted sideways to the ceiling beams to be more concealed.
_Accent lighting of the bar shelf made from textured glass as a special eye-catcher, warm white and cold white light used to create a powerful lighting effect at the front and the back.
_A handmade cold cathode Amplifier logo with recessed electrodes that appears to float in front of the wall
_ Linear LED filament lamps illuminate the coffered ceiling and create a cozy atmosphere
_ Flexible floor lamps for the stage lounge.
_ A discreet step lighting for secure way finding.
The foyer presents itself with an extensive cold cathode installation and a RGBW backlighting for a spectacular entrée. The cold cathode installation was manufactured in a traditional way and uses blue as well as red discharging technique. An additional general lighting as well as a flexible table lamp guarantee a secure orientation and adequate lighting for event receptions.
The lighting control system and user-friendly operation were a key requirement for the client. Different lighting scenes can be selected by tablet or wall mounted switch panel. Three general lighting scenes are available, each with an individual lighting atmosphere for coworking, event and conference. Each scene also allows for an additional dimming option for a brighter day and a more comfortable night scene.
