Anden Queretaro

Andén Querétaro is a space embedded in the center of this city, located next to the iconic aqueduct, where tradition and the industrial field come together. The tracks layout was done in the late XIX century, with the arrival of the railroad and the station platform went through one of the last arches of the aqueduct. Years later it was decided to change the railroad and remove the tracks to avoid harm due to the vibration.

Inspired in the old day’s nostalgia, when the aqueduct and the train used to meet, it was sought to rehabilitate the place and turn it into a cultural and gastronomic reference in the area. Andén Querétaro has 12 retail spaces seated within the complex for which Boutique de Arquitectura used maritime containers to generate an industrial atmosphere —like in the old train stations— taking advantage of the patina and oxide textures of steel and wood, creating a visual composition suitable for the space.

Inside the complex the eye is catch by apparent materials and fixtures with minimalist touches, providing a comfort balance and an atmosphere similar to a railroad platform or a factory from early last century. Architects Alejandro Chávez and Luis Farfán decided to maintain the historical tradition and ambience of the place by refurbishing part of the train track thus providing the perfect setting for visitors to recreate those times in their memory and creating the perfect photo op while enjoy what the place has to offer: food, music and different events.
