What was the brief?
The apartment is home to a client that lives by himself, the brief of the project was to design an apartment that created a unique atmosphere for all occasions in life, for alone times but also for social gatherings. That was accomplished through a reorganization of the preexisting entrances that lead to a high-ceiling living room equipped with multifunction furniture. The project integrates the balconies into their inside areas and creates bigger, more pleasant spaces. The joined balconies, with a high ceiling and view of the park in the Living Room provide a grand yet intimate space, that complies with one of the main client requests: a place for socializing and relaxation. The result proceeded just as planned, a cozy, flexible, multifunctional, welcoming, and sophisticated apartment.
What were the key challenges?
The original blueprint had numerous entrances, creating a chaotic environment that didn't value the individual's first impression of the apartment nor the amazing view
of Ibirapuera Park, the most important one in the city of São Paulo, so throughout the development of the project, the distribution of social, private, and service sectors, was established with that landscape in mind, valuing natural lighting, ventilation, and a reorganization of the preexisting entrances.
What materials did you choose and why?
The concept of the project was based on minimalism, which guided the chosen materials, to create a comfortable, and cozy environment. Three main materials were used, concrete, wood, and stone, all materials filled with texture, related to nature, and easy to maintain, allowing the apartment to be as multifunctional as possible.
