In a 126m² apartment located in Vila Mascote, in the south of São Paulo, a young newlywed couple decided to start a new phase of their life together. Coming from different cities — he from the countryside, she from the capital — the residents sought a home that reflected this union and their current needs. The interior design, designed by the RMV Interiores office, was designed to reflect this new moment, with solutions that combined functionality, comfort and identity. From the beginning, the living room was conceived as the heart of the apartment, a space that would interact with all the other rooms.
The main requirement was to create an office integrated into the living room, without sacrificing privacy. The solution was to install a slatted partition, which visually delimits the spaces without blocking the passage of light or the spaciousness of the room. The balcony, in turn, was connected to the social area by a new sliding door that replaced the old masonry, offering the possibility of total integration during moments of socializing or isolation when necessary. Internal circulation was also optimized: the wall of the main bedroom was moved back towards the living room to increase the closet area, and a door from the kitchen to the laundry room was eliminated, gaining useful space with the installation of a sliding door.
The project’s materiality reinforces its contemporary aesthetic. Silver porcelain tiles (Villagres), used in most of the apartment, serve as a neutral base for the composition, while the wood-like Jatobá (also from Villagres) warms up the balcony. The combination of MDFs in light and earthy tones — such as Alabama, Terra Cota and Pérola Urbana — is present in different spaces, with emphasis on the strategic use of slatted panels, mirrored cabinets and details that enhance the design of the custom furniture.
At the entrance to the apartment, a small hall with a built-in bench and a panel in White TX MDF welcomes residents and visitors with practicality. The living room was designed to provide well-being, with soft tones, comfortable furniture and light landscaping. Large mirrors and wooden elements bring depth and balance, while the office next door stands out for its functionality: a large countertop, a cabinet with niches and LED strip lighting complete the space.
The gourmet balcony gained personality with the use of black in details and furniture, a brick wall and a vertical garden. The main protagonist of the space is the table made of reclaimed wood, which invites socializing and meets the couple's desire for a beautiful and functional place to receive family and friends.
The kitchen combines practicality and aesthetics, with cabinets in three shades of MDF, a countertop in Branco Itaúnas granite and carpentry that includes a built-in table for quick meals. In the bathroom, the highlight is the combination of burnt cement with white 3D cladding and diffuse lighting, in contrast with a metalwork towel rack that comes down from the ceiling, reinforcing the urban and bold concept of the space.
The master suite follows a sophisticated style, with a floor-to-ceiling paneled headboard, decorative pendants and mirrored cabinets. Earthy and woody elements appear in both the furniture and decorative niches, while spot lighting creates a cozy atmosphere. The master bathroom follows the same concept, with black metalwork details, a white quartz countertop and a slatted cabinet with a marble base.
With 7 months of project development and a 1 year and 2 month construction period, the apartment in Vila Mascote reflects an urban and contemporary lifestyle, but without sacrificing affection and practicality. The goal was to create a space that reflected who they are now — and also who they want to be together from now on.
