The project involves the comprehensive remodeling of the existing space to adapt it to the commercial purpose and new identity of a healthy restaurant. The architectural proposal prioritizes natural light and the incorporation of a wide variety of plant species, creating a fresh and welcoming atmosphere.
This project was awarded First Place in the Comercial Category at the Architecture and City Award 2019, CAPECO, recognizing its excellence in design and contribution to the built environment.
To optimize space utilization, the façade is strategically set back, expanding the terrace and enhancing the connection between the interior and exterior through a large glass partition. This architectural feature reinforces the project's principles of transparency and authenticity. Natural materials are used, minimizing the application of paint whenever possible. The interior design incorporates plywood cladding, exposed walls, natural black iron carpentry, and terrazzo flooring, achieving a sober and authentic aesthetic.
Aligned with Vicca Verde’s vision, the project is developed under strict sustainability criteria, ensuring a high level of comfort with minimal environmental impact. Additionally, it seeks to generate a positive impact on the social and economic environment, promoting a healthy, balanced lifestyle in harmony with nature.
The result is a relaxed and inviting space, ideal for sharing moments with family and friends. The restaurant’s culinary proposal is based on the use of high-nutritional-value ingredients, reinforcing its identity as a benchmark for healthy eating.
Sustainability and Community
The project promotes a lifestyle that is environmentally responsible, aligning with the needs of a community that values healthy food consumption and enjoys a pet-friendly environment. Sustainable design is prioritized, integrating architectural solutions and materials that minimize environmental impact while fostering a balance between nature and urban life.
Material Selection
Materials have been carefully chosen to provide authenticity and durability to the space. Flooring includes polished black terrazzo, hydraulic tiles in outdoor areas, and black ceramic stoneware. Wall finishes combine phenolic plywood, white and green majolica tiles, and white marble, creating a harmonious contrast of textures and colors. Carpentry, beams, and staircases are made of black metal, while exposed concrete blocks reinforce the project’s industrial and contemporary aesthetic.
Lighting and Sun Exposure
Natural lighting is a key element in the design. The glazed façade, oriented to the northeast, maximizes daylight entry, while northwest-facing windows capture the afternoon light, framing views of a landscaped passageway. The double-height space and the incorporation of a teatina (clerestory) allow for optimal illumination of the upper level, reducing the need for artificial lighting during the day.
Equipment and Functionality
The space has been designed for efficiency and ease of maintenance. Removable railings have been implemented to facilitate upkeep, along with a 100% LED lighting system and centralized LPG infrastructure. Additionally, a recycling station and a bicycle parking area have been incorporated, promoting sustainable mobility. The modular furniture, made of phenolic plywood, provides flexibility and versatility in space distribution.
Vegetation and Landscaping
Vegetation plays a fundamental role in the project, contributing to both aesthetics and environmental comfort. Various plant species have been incorporated, including hanging vincas, boas, honeysuckles, and ficus. Additionally, four trees have been strategically planted: two meijos inside, one molle in the public space, and another in the parking area. Several planters, designed with phenolic plywood panels, further enhance the green concept.
Public Space and Urban Connectivity
By setting back the façade, a spacious terrace has been created, enriching the urban experience and fostering social interaction. A landscaped corridor, accessible to the public, has also been implemented, encouraging pedestrian and bicycle movement along the street. This intervention aims to strengthen the connection between the built environment and its surroundings, contributing to a more livable and sustainable city.
